It is with great sadness that Three Rivers Folklife Society notes the passing of a very long-time 3RFS member, Alan Gibbs.

Alan and his wife Judi started the 3rfs.org website in 1995. In this time of straight HTML, they figured out how to put sound clips online, and posted some of the earliest ones.

Alan subsequently maintained and developed the 3rfs.org website by himself until May 2023, when a serious medical condition suddenly sidelined him.

Alan was born in 1939, and died January 11, 2024.

He was a valued and valuable member of our organization, and put in excellent work to promote the organization and our aims.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends now. Thank you, Alan, for everything.

    Trillium-239!

    March Concert: Trillium-239!

Trillium-239 is not a new element in the periodic table and it's not used in nuclear bombs or power plants. Trillium-239 is a familiar trio formerly known as Humphrey, Hartman and Cameron. While their old name sounded like a law firm, their current name combines a 3 petaled wildflower and an isotope of plutonium, historically produced on the Hanford site that was indirectly responsible for bringing each of the trio's members to Richland. They are known for their complex melodies, quirky lyrics, award winning songwriting, and masterful arrangements. Cello, guitar, and banjo provide thoughtful support for their tight vocal harmonies. Don't miss this opportunity to see and hear our local divas live in concert, and also support Tumbleweed Music Festival, as all proceeds from the concert will go into the coffers to fund the festival. The funds raised by this concert will go towards this year's Tumbleweed Music Festival. Putting on a mostly free festival for all to enjoy costs a lot of money, and this is a chance to contribute to making that happen. At the same time, you’ll be having a great time enjoying a concert that is sure to be entertaining and fun. We appreciate Dan's continuing generosity in doing this.

The concert is Saturday, February 17th, 2024. It begins at 7:30 pm in the sanctuary of All Saints' Episcopal Church, 1322 Kimball Avenue in Richland. Park in the back parking lot and enter through the basement. Tickets are $20 general admission and $15 for members of 3RFS and can be purchased at the door or in advance on the Concert page.
